Sai Reddy

Scientific Advisor

Prof. Sai Reddy is an Associate Professor of Systems and Synthetic Immunology at ETH Zurich in the Department of Biosystems Science & Engineering (D-BSSE, Basel, Switzerland). He is the principal investigator of the Laboratory for Systems and Synthetic Immunology. Systems and synthetic immunology uses quantitative measurements, computational biology and machine learning to describe and understand the complexity of the immune system. His group has developed a number of methods and platform technologies to greater understand adaptive immunity, in particular with a focus on antibody repertoire sequencing and analysis.

Prof. Reddy holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL, USA) and a Ph.D. from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) (Lausanne, Switzerland).

Derek Mason

Director of Operations

Derek leads antibody engineering and lead optimization where his knowledge and experience in antibody development helps transform lead antibodies into preclinical candidates. Prior to moving to Basel, Switzerland, he worked as both a process and automation engineer in the chemical process industry where he gained invaluable experience working with and managing interdisciplinary teams. Intrigued by recent advances in gene editing technologies and machine learning, his research interests led him to join Prof. Reddy’s research group with a motivation to combine cellular and protein engineering in mammalian cells with computational/bioinformatics analysis to advance the field of antibody discovery and development.

Derek holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado (Boulder, CO, USA) and an MSc and Ph.D. from Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETH) (Basel, Switzerland) under the supervision of Prof. Sai Reddy.

Cédric Weber

Director of Technology

In his Ph.D. thesis, Cédric developed methods for the simulation and large-scale analysis of antibody and T-cell receptor repertoire data. He integrated traditional bioinformatic and modern machine learning approaches to identify immunogenomic patterns and generate in-silico libraries of immune receptor sequences.

His Ph.D. work, supervised by Prof. Sai Reddy, included international collaborations with leading research groups at the Universities of Linz and Oslo, as well as the Beijing Genomics Institute in Shenzhen, China.

Cédric holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Systems Biology and a Ph.D. from ETH Zürich. Cédric also holds a B.A. in Political Science and Chinese and Japanese Language Studies from the University of Zürich and completed an internship as a policy analyst for the Office of Environmental Coordination and Energy of the Canton Bern.

Simon Friedensohn

Director of Research and Development

Simon is responsible for our antibody discovery platform. He possess extensive knowledge in antibody repertoire sequencing and analysis. Prior to joining deepCDR, Simon gave numerous workshops and presentations at leading global antibody discovery and engineering conferences teaching industry scientists how to utilize high-throughput sequencing for antibody discovery.Simon holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology and a Ph.D. from ETH Zurich where he developed both experimental as well as computational methods for high-throughput immune repertoire sequencing.
